Outreach & Operations Coordinator

Part-Time | $20-$25/hour | Hybrid, Colo. Springs

​

Educating Children of Color, Inc. is seeking a highly organized, creative, and community-oriented Outreach & Operations Coordinator to support the organization’s digital communications and event logistics. This role promotes the work of the organization to the community and supports the planning of the organization's largest annual program, the Educating Children of Color Summit. 
 

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with experience in digital content creation, project management, and administrative support. They should be comfortable setting and working on independent timelines, managing multiple projects, communicating needs proactively, and working independently in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities 

Communications & Digital Outreach 

  • Design print and digital materials using Canva, including flyers, event programs, graphics, promotional materials, and reports. 

  • Manage and update the organization’s website through Wix, including creating pages, updating statistics, and maintaining current program and event information  

  • Plan, write, and send monthly newsletters through ConvertKit  

  • Maintain and grow contact lists using website, event, and outreach databases  

  • Develop engaging social media content across platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn  

  • Support the development of a cross-platform communications calendar

  • Capture and organize photos and media from organizational events and programming

Event & Program Support 

  • Assist with planning and promotion for major organizational events, primarily the annual Educating Children of Color Summit 

  • Coordinate event-related communications, graphics, newsletters, and materials  

  • Support event logistics, including but not limited to registration systems, speaker coordination, volunteer management, timely communications to participants, and on-site support

Qualifications 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills  

  • Experience with Canva, Microsoft Office Suite, and social media management 

  • Familiarity with (or flexibility to learn) email marketing platforms (ConvertKit) and front-end development platforms (Wix)

  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects independently  

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail 

  • Graphic design and digital storytelling experience are a plus  

  • Passion for educational equity and community-centered work

Preferred Qualities & Qualifications

  • Experience in nonprofit work, community outreach, communications, education, or fundraising

  • Creative and adaptable 

  • A proactive communicator 

  • Self-starter with strong problem-solving abilities 

 

Work Environment 

This position includes a mix of remote, administrative, and in-person event support responsibilities. Some evening or weekend availability may be required during the weeks leading up to the Summit. Working hours are variable, increasing from December to February in preparation for the Summit.
